Henry, Procter and Choate Fellowships

The Henry, Procter and Choate Fellowships provide the opportunity to study for a year at Harvard, Yale or Princeton Universities

The Trustees of the Charles and Julia Henry Fund expect to offer two Henry Fellowships, two Procter Fellowships and two Choate Fellowship for the academic year 2025-26. These fellowships differ in their eligibility criteria and opportunity, so applicants are advised to read the terms and conditions of each award carefully. Where eligible, applicants may apply to more than one of the Fellowships.

  • Henry Fellowship, to Harvard or Yale: open to students of all nationalities. Candidates must be full-time students at a British or Irish University who have completed at least two years of full-time undergraduate study by 1 January 2025 or students in the first year of postgraduate study where not more than year has passed from the time of taking their first degree;
  • Procter Fellowship, to Princeton: open to British citizens who have completed their undergraduate degree in liberal studies at any British University and achieved a 1st class honours degree and have completed at least three terms (one academic year) of their current postgraduate course at either Oxford or Cambridge University;
  • Choate Fellowship, to Harvard: open to British citizens, with preference to Cambridge University students with a Cambridge BA, where not more than one year has passed from the time of taking the undergraduate degree or open to a Cambridge undergraduate where not more than four years have passed since matriculation.

 

Notable Fellows

These Fellowships have been vital for the subsequent careers of many notable people. Examples include Alan Turing (Procter Fellow 1937) and Norman Foster (Henry Fellow 1961). Recent awards can be found here.

 

Please note that Henry Fellowships are open to students of all nationalities from all UK Universities. All applications open on 1 November 2024 for entry in the next academic year.
